Hello, I am Karen aka Krystal Spirit!
My journey began in 2010 when a group of friends, all much younger than me dragged me along to my first class. Nervous as hell, and feeling very self conscious we took our seats. Just 1 hour later I was buzzing, we laughed, we messed up (several times!) and I have never looked back.
Within a few months I had performed at my first Annual Show and my friend became an instructor bringing classes closer to home. We performed again, winning Best Class of the night, I competed in the over 40’s section solo and was chosen to represent our class in a finals dance off.
When our Pontefract instructor announced she was retiring from teaching I was heckled by the rest of the class to take over the reins. At 48 years old I was doubting that I could fill her shoes but it was only a few months later and after much encouragement (and bullying!!) that I applied to do the instructor training course.
In September 2015 the Pontefract class was resurrected as I took over, adding a 2nd class in Wakefield.
For my 50th Birthday in 2016 we put on a show to raise money for charity, it was supposed to be a one off, but just like me back in 2010, my ladies came off stage euphoric and we have arranged and performed at many other charity events since.
The shows are purely optional, we are a fitness class first and foremost but to see all the ladies grow in confidence gives me so much pride.
Lockdown has had a massive impact not only on people’s physical health but their mental health too. As restrictions are now being relaxed and face to face classes are starting back I have had a massive influx of new ladies looking to Get Fit, Lose Weight, Build Confidence and have FUN so 2 additional classes have been added in Castleford and Normanton.
If you are feeling lethargic, frumpy, struggling with your mental health or just looking for a fun hobby, get in touch and give it a try. You might just find a way to keep fit that you love as much as we do.
Classes are suitable for ages 16 to 106 and sizes 6 to 26+, No dance experience? Health conditions? No problem, the routines are broken down step by step and I can offer alternative moves for anyone that might need them.
Get in touch if you want to know more,
xxxxxxx Much Love and Sparkles xxxxxxx
