Hello it’s Krystal Spirit in Lanzarote! No classes haven’t reached the Canaries yet, I am taking a much needed break. It’s been a crazy few months since my last blog with lots of personal stuff and a pending house move to contend with and I think it’s only the fabulous ladies at my classes that have kept me sane!
April saw the annual shows back bigger and better than ever before. I took along 14 of my lovely ladies from Pontefract and Wakefield who reduced me to tears with their spectacular performances on stage. Many of them had never performed before and had only been dancing with me for a few months but they blew me away.
I would specifically like to mention Sarah Oliphant who was my chosen newcomer, she totally embraced her nomination and took to that stage like she had been doing it all her life. Dancing solo is such a massive achievement. Well done Sarah xxx
Sarah Doughty wowed the audience with her spectacular vocals singing 2 songs during the evening and also sang for my own solo performance. I can’t thank her enough xxx
Shortly after the show I was contacted and asked to start a new class in South Kirby. The new class only started 4 weeks ago and week one saw the venue full to capacity. My lovely new ladies are so full of fun and enthusiasm and I can’t wait to start a new routine with them when I return from my jollies.
As I am sunning myself by the pool, my thoughts are on the next chapter of Burlesque Chair Dance adventure. In November I will hosting a charity burlesque show. One of my Pontefract ladies Sarah Craven and friend for over 10 years has a 5 year old son who has cerebral palsy. Alex is a little stunner and probably the most intelligent 5 year old I have ever had the privilege to meet. He has been accepted for life changing surgery by a top American surgeon who will perform 2 separate procedures that will hopefully enable him to walk. I have every confidence that one day soon he will take to his feet, he is a very determined young man xxx the surgery is not funded by the NHS and will cost £60,000.
The show will take place on 19th November to coincide with my 50th Birthday. I will be celebrating by showcasing my fantastic ladies once again. Ticket sales and donations in lieu of birthday gifts will be donated to The Alex Craven fund and I am sure you will see posts about this as the show draws closer. I am so excited with the planning of this event and hope to raise lots of money for Alex xx if you want to be part of this amazing family of dancers and Get Fit, Lose Weight, Build Confidence and Have FUN join me at any one of my classes. Find me at Pontefract Sports and Social Club 6.30-7.30 every Tuesday and later at The Newfield pub in South Kirby at 8.30-9.30 and on Thursdays at Agbrigg Community centre 6.30-7.30. Check out the class timetable for more details at www.burlesquechairdance.co.uk but for now it’s back to topping up the tan!!! It’s a hard life xxxx
