Hello my Blazing Hot Beauties,
Tiger Rose here, the Liverpool/Wirral Burlesque Chair Dance Instructor. It has been a quiet few months since my last blog here on Merseyside, but there is lots of ideas for the upcoming months. I have just acquired a new venue for my Monday Liverpool classes at the Crown Hotel on Lime Street and me and my Tiger Cubs are in talks about holding our first Liverpool/Wirral Burlesque Chair Dance show, and maybe even a cheeky calendar. We have even been asked to attend a local day-centre to give a performance and maybe get some of the ladies moving.
I am sure last month you saw on the burlesque chair dance UK Facebook page, one of my ladies, Jean Mary Price, and her amazing transformation. When Jean started my classes back in 2015, she had a few health issues and was on Medication. The thought of exercising and getting out of breath terrified her. Now look at her, everyone at class is so proud of her. Over eight stone lost, she has won woman of the year, Miss Slinky, as well as the greatest loser in her class. She is my poster girl for my classes showing with confidence, a good tribe of women supporting you and determination; you can achieve your goals.
Here is a testimony from Jean:
“Amazing classes! Building your confidence, your muscles and flexibility all in a fun packed supportive community. It’s just the best exercise I’ve ever done, probably because it’s so much fun it doesn’t even feel like exercise and now my core muscles and legs are stronger than they have ever been!”
And here are some of the testimonies from my Tiger Cubs about our classes:
“I was reluctant to start burlesque chair dancing even though I had friends taking the class. I’m extremely shy and awkward but I met the gang at a burlesque show at the theatre and we got chatting. They were all so friendly and my husband encouraged me to go along…so I did! Marguerite was amazing from my very first lesson and eased me in. She knows what I am capable of physically and emotionally helps me with alternatives. I have been going to class for a year now and have to say my confidence has grown and I feel more sexy!! At the weekend I took part in an alternative show with fire eaters and burlesque performers. I did a vintage style catwalk which I had to incorporate poses. If you asked me to do that last year it would’ve been a big no no!!! So yes…BCD has helped me in so many ways. I’ve made new friends, gone on nights out, gotten fitter and most importantly I have become a more confident woman!!” -Lynsay
“Thank you to Marguerite for not only her fun, exciting and hilarious classes but also for making me feel so much more confident in myself! It says a lot that I never want to miss a class!!” -Katharine
“It took a lot for me to go to something on my own but so glad I plucked up the courage. I went to my first Burlesque Chair Dance class in January and been going ever since. Marguerite’s classes are a real work out and I really enjoy all the routines, they’re so much fun, love getting dressed up too. I feel a lot fitter and so much more confident now and I’ve made new friends. Marguerite and all the ladies are so friendly and supportive and i look forward to class every week” –Luna Butterfly
“I’ve been attending Burlesque Chair Dance for just over a year. I arrived wary and unsure if it was for me. When met with a wonderfully bunch of ladies, I thought I’d stick around. In this time my confidence has zoomed. With each routine a little part of me is unleashed. I love these classes with the friendships and inner me I have discovered.” -Jeannie
“Whoa! What can I say, it’s coming up to my 2 year anniversary. I would say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made joining Marguerite’s (Miss Tiger Rose’s) Burlesque Chair Dance class. I love it so much, Marguerite is like an abundance of energy, always looks amazing in what she is doing, I just aspire to one day be as sensual and fun loving sexy as she is! The confidence that she has given me is amazing. The friendships that have been formed during class, we now feel like family, a close sisterhood. I just want to say a huge thank you to you Marguerite!” –Tallulah Von Pinky Kisses
“Ah we all know that Monday morning feeling, wearily heading off to work… Not me though, I’ve got class tonight so it’s okay! I’ve been coming since January, and genuinely look forward to class each week, really miss it if I can’t go for whatever reason. No matter what I know I have an hour of fun and laughs ahead where I can forget everything else. Marguerite is fantastic as a teacher so welcoming and friendly, everyone is so supportive too. I’m not exactly graceful, many a mishap but it doesn’t matter, I’m never made to feel stupid or like I shouldn’t be there. I leave the class feeling great, a little bit of confidence restored every week. I would tell anyone considering coming along, do it, we’ll welcome you and you’ll never look back. You won’t regret it!” -Hannah
“Burlesque chair dance has helped give me confidence. I enjoy it so much and realise that I can do something different. Music and dance are two of my favourite things so this is just a perfect combination and helps get me fit at the same.” -Sharon
“This class has helped with my confidence and flexibility. It has been good to try something new and different. I was very anxious at first but the instructor is amazing and will always find alternatives if struggling and is very welcoming. Everyone is always very supportive and encouraging.”-Dee
“I joined burlesque chair dance over a year ago now, I was really nervous about what to expect. Marguerite makes you feel so welcome and the ladies are all so friendly that it was really enjoyable and I haven’t looked back since. It is good exercise and great fun, we have a laugh. Thoroughly recommend it” -Beverley
Well, I think those testimonials speak for themselves, but I would like to add one more of my own. Not only has Burlesque Chair dance classes brought all these women together to gain confidence, lose weight and have fun, but these classes have helped me so much too. The last few months, I have had a lot of ups and downs, emotionally and physically. So I have been ‘dancing with the black dog’ (depression). One in four people suffer in silence from anxiety or depression, it affects everyone sooner or later and for some people, it is a lifelong affliction. So for these last few months the ‘black dog’ has been there, my thoughts are not my own when it takes up residence and slobbers around me, its heavy paws weighing me down and shining coat reflecting the sun away. There has been so many things that I wish I could have achieved or I have missed out on, but find it so hard to apply my strength to because it is there with those big dark eyes and shakes his head and makes me doubt myself immediately. We all know the old quote; you have to be in the right place/frame of mind to start a diet or plan an exercise regime. With the ‘black dog’, it’s a fight, but I have found my leash for this dark beast by pushing myself, teaching my ladies Burlesque Chair Dance. It’s my way of regaining control of my ‘black dog’. No matter how down I feel, once I am at class, with the support and joy of each one of my ladies, that silly mutt runs and hides. I strongly believe our classes are the best medicine.
