This first set of Lesson 1 classes are FULLY BOOKED – but don’t worry we’ll be having lots more!
With a huge increase of interest and requests for Fire Performing from all our dancers and instructors, we’ve designed our own Burlesque Chair Dance ‘Fans & Fire Course’ to teach you all everything you need to know to perform safely with Fire.
Our aim is to create safe, confident, skilled Fire Performers for shows, events and those just wanting to learn a new hobby.
You can’t learn all the fire skills (body burning/fire eating/licking/breathing) safely within one class. Fire performing is a dangerous art and our lessons are broken down and taught safely and gradually over a period of 3 x 3 hour lessons within a secure, indoors environment. Fire Breathing is the most dangerous of these skills and this will be taught at lesson 3, after 6 hours of learning the basics over the first two classes.
Are we dancing?
Yes of course we are! We are a ‘dance’ company, so we’re combining these classes with learning a Fans & Fire routine! You may have seen the routine at this years Annual Shows & Miss Burlesque UK Competitions; ‘Rule The World’ by Lordes (Dracula soundtrack). Bella Diamond performed the routine herself and is excited to start teaching it to all our dancers from next month. With the course taking place over 3 lessons – one third of the routine will be taught at each class. All our dancers will have the opportunity to perform the routine LIVE in costume on Parkland’s stage, with our photographer to capture them in all their glory showcasing their new skills.

FAQ’s
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Learning a new skill can be expensive, however we’ve decided to keep our prices reasonable and charge only £35 per each 3 hour class. The price includes the use of all props, fuels, fans, fire sticks and everything required to master your new skills during classes.
The beauty of these classes is that they are ‘pay as you go’, everyone booking is entitled to chose when to book on to each lesson and a range of dates for each lesson will be offered. You are not required to attend all 3 classes within any timescale, and simply pay at the point of booking. Making the course affordable and flexible around any lifestyle or commitments.
Over 18’s only
Q: Can someone with a health condition take part?
A: At the point of booking, dancers will complete a medical questionnaire. Any dancers with skin conditions or respiratory diseases (and pregnant ladies) may be asked to seek advise from their doctor before starting our course. We take the health of our dancers very seriously and our Fire Instructors are both First Aid qualified.
Q: Can my class book a lesson together?
A: Yes, but we can only take 10 people per class (including your Instructor). When we light up sticks we split into two groups and offer 1:2:1 then group supervised fire practice. Larger groups cannot be safely supervised.
Q: Can I chose just lesson 2 or 3?
A: No. Although we appreciate some of you may have already learnt these skills before, or are maybe looking to add Fire Eating or Breathing to your already existing skills – this course acts as a risk assessment to perform fire at BCD shows & events. Therefore lessons must be booked and attended in order 1, 2 & 3 and all participants must start at the beginning with lesson 1.
If a dancer only wants to learn to perform body burning and not fire eating/licking/breathing, we will happily sign them off to do so at BCD shows & events without the need to progress onto or complete lessons 2 and 3.
If a dancer only wants to perform body burning & fire eating – not fire breathing, again – we will happily sign them off to do so at BCD shows & events after lessons 1 & 2 without the need to complete lesson 3.
Please note: all dancers wishing to perform with fire will be required to source their own Fire Performer Liability Insurance in able to perform at BCD shows & events.
********IMPORTANT************
To perform with fire at any Burlesque Chair Dance event anywhere in the UK, dancers & instructors must have successfully completed the required skill classes to company standard. These classes serve as a risk assessment and in addition to successful completion it is compulsory to source your own Fire Performer Liability Insurance in order to perform with fire at any BCD show or event in any location, led by any instructor in the UK.
