Hailing originally from Sheffield but defected to Leicester almost 26 years ago my background is in musical theatre. A qualified dance teacher with a passion for singing and acting I have been involved in amateur theatre all my life. I stopped teaching a few years ago and ended up singing all the time – choral stuff – a cappella stuff and barbershop singing where I actually compete in national competitions. During lockdown I became involved with a virtual choir – The Collective – where I was on the music team teaching sessions on Zoom and guiding people to record audio and video of numerous songs. We have even made a CD. All of this made me realise just how much I had missed telling a room full of people what to do and swore to myself that once lockdown was over, I would go back to teaching. I had also missed dancing terribly, so the logical thing was to combine the 2 things that were lacking in my life – dance and teaching – so I started to look for something that inspired me.
As if by some sort of divine intervention adverts for Burlesque Chair Dance kept popping up on my Facebook feed so I had a look and boom – exactly what I was looking for. From my first tentative message I felt the camaraderie and amazing support from the team. I love the cheekiness of the routines – I love the muscle groups that get worked – I love the fact that I get a great workout whilst having an absolute blast – all boxes ticked.
So – if you fancy just remembering what it’s like to feel great about yourself – feeling those dormant muscles work again and maybe shimmy off a few pounds come and join me! I promise you’ll get a workout – learn some moves and most importantly have fun whilst doing so.
I can’t wait to meet you,
Clara La Squeeze xx
