Doncaster Burlesque Chair Dance classes reopen from Monday the 9th of January (next week) and we can’t wait to see you! We’ve all put on a few Christmas lbs but don’t you worry, we’ll have you all back to your pre-crimbo slinky selves in no time.

When you get to a certain age you start to believe that Christmas is simply for Children right? It’s an over commercialized way for retail stores to make more profit, an excuse for eating/drinking far too much and overspending (ever the pessimist lol).
But no, Christmas is about LOVE. It’s about being grateful for what you have and helping others – tis the season to be jolly!

Here at Burlesque Chair Dance we are very much about giving at Christmas, giving something back to the community and helping others to achieve their potential, live their dreams and find happiness. This year we’ve been all about Mission Christmas and we chose to support Hallam FM Cash for Kids; the majority of our dancers are Mum’s/Daughters/Grandmothers and knowing that we’ve made a difference to the lives of poorly, vulnerable and disadvantaged kiddies everywhere has been the BEST Christmas present any of us could have dreamed of.

We started our fundraising mission by hosting a BURLESQUE-ATHON a sponsored 6 hours of back to back, non stop Burlesque Chair Dance classes! 50 amazingly committed dancers came together and WOW they did it! If you have never been to a Burlesque Chair Dance class before let me tell you – it’s not as easy as people may think!
Every single lady in the room danced their stockings off (some didn’t walk for a few days afterwards like but it was totally worth it!)

Our Burlyesque Boys (poor suffering Husbands & Boyfriends) got together on the day too for their very own ‘Transvestite Christmas Make-Over’ including photo-shoot! Because ‘if you can’t beat em, join em’ right lads?! HUGE thanks to our boys and to our voluntary Make Up Artists who gave their time to come down and make them over on the day too: Jess Downs, Kerry Davenport, Meg Hilton & Chelsea Cavanagh! Special thanks also to Cherry Stones our Drag Artiste extraordinaire who opened the event in true style & glamour!

And to finish the year on a high the Doncaster Burlesque Chair Dance Cabaret Team hit the pubs & clubs taking part in the UK’s very first Christmas Burlesque Bar Dance Crawl! Our team of Burlesque Beauties danced ON 7 bars in one night in Doncaster town centre: The Urban Bar, Bar Home, Goose, Cask Corner, Frank & Steins, Hallcross & Vintage Rock Bar. Our ladies from class joined us on the night – an army of Sexy Santa’s shaking their buckets and raising even more cash for this amazing cause. Needless to say it was an INCREDIBLE night with the girls raising an axtra £757.65 in one night!

Now we believe in doing good at home too and helping our local community which is why we’ve split our donations again this year to help our local community too: The Woodfield Social Club in Balby is the birthplace of Burlesque Chair Dance and without the clubs support we wouldn’t be where we are today. The club supports a variety of different community groups and have been in need of help with their renovations for quite some time now. It gave us great pleasure to help and a cheque for £1,831.31 is going towards the cost of a much needed new floor that the whole community can enjoy – OAP groups, children’s sports groups and the free community events they host regularly to engage local youngsters and families.

Hi everyone! I’m Natasha, aka, Miss Luna Racy.

I must say I never thought I’d end up here! I’ve always loved dancing and had a passion for it as a form of exercise, because to be completely honest, even the idea of the gym makes me ill, but I never thought I’d be teaching what I love!

I decided back in May to take the plunge, and after some gentle nudging from my own instructor I booked myself on to the next Instructor Training Course and after months and two very nervous nights practising in hotel rooms shouting out moves to myself (and probably making the staff think I was a little crazy) I passed!

I’ve just finished my first class last night, and the first class just proved how much I was meant to do this! The girls were amazing and we had a great laugh especially when I had total nervous mind blanks. I also had such a good turn out despite panicking madly that it was just going to be me in a room on my own, so a big thank you again to everyone who came.

I’m due to start my second class in Corby next Wednesday, taking over from my own beautiful instructor, who will actually be swapping places with me and becoming one of my members, who have over the last year, became my own little burlesque family, talk about pressure!

I’ve also gone and booked a third venue in Stanwick for Thursday nights, it’s true to say that this amazing fitness craze is taking over the UK by storm and I can’t wait to build my own little burlesque families in my other classes.

If I had one thing to say to anyone thinking of becoming an instructor, it would definitely be ‘what are you waiting for?!’ It’s one of the scariest but most fun things I’ve ever made myself do 🙂

Hi everyone my name is Kate aka Mistress Sapphire Von Tazieff and I am your newly qualified instructor for Peterborough and Foxton.  

I had been looking for an exercise class that was a bit different after a shoulder injury prevented me from carrying on with learning to pole dance.  I didn’t want to do the “norm”, luckily some ladies at work also felt the same and we found a local Burlesque Chair Dance class.  I had danced a little at school, but wasn’t “built” like the other girls so I was always left out of all the performances, but seeing all the different shapes and sizes of the ladies at that first class really helped.

I took my first class at the end of January with Minxy Von Rox in Stamford, by the end of the class I was hooked.  For once I wasn’t judged on my size or my dance ability and I never felt stupid.  I knew by the end of the class I was coming back without a doubt! I chose my burlesque name within 2 weeks and I had my uniform ordered shortly after that -and I have never looked back! I performed at my first show within months of starting and certainly was bitten by the bug I loved every second of being on that stage!

I had always had a poor self-body image and I totally lacked confidence in myself , the only time I had any confidence in front of a camera or as centre of attention was in the ring with one of my show dogs (my other passion my 2 Afghan Hounds).  Burlesque Chair Dance has unleashed a “me” I never knew existed, I felt myself grow and my confidence soar.   I feel like the world is now my oyster!

My aim is to empower and bring out a new confidence in the ladies in my classes, also I want them to Get Fit, Lose Weight , Build Confidence, and Have lots of FUN doing so!

The classes are for all sizes, all abilities, all shapes the only things holding you back is you!  So grab the chair by the legs and join me in shimmying your way to a new you! I assure you, you wont regret taking a chance.

This week I took my very first class, OMG we had the most fun! A class full of happy smiling ladies that all let happy! Made my job so easy, can’t wait for my next class.

What a journey we’ve started!

My first class in Desborough was so Awesome; 20 lovely ladies arrived and we were all soooo nervous. A few minutes into Lady Marmalade routine; the nerves settled. These are a brilliant bunch of ladies, ready for a giggle and a laugh and to sweat in the room. I asked them to share their thoughts so far:

It’s a really fun and different way of getting fit. Also everyone is really lovely so you don’t feel like you’re getting judged if you do a move wrong hah! – Shannon

This year we have 6 categories for you all to sign up to:

Miss Choreography – Choreograph your own Burlesque Chair Dance, pick your own costume and take to the stage to show us what you’re made of!

Miss Burlesque Chair Dance – BRAND NEW category for 2016! Pick your favourite Burlesque Chair Dance class routine, wear costume or dancewear and perform your favourite dance. Be quick to chose as only one performance of the same routine can take place on the night!

Miss Classic – perform your own Burlesque Striptease routine with or without a chair. This category is ALL about the Nipple Tassels!

Miss Vocal – This category is for all you budding songstresses! Take to the stage and sing solo or duet or even have a class mate accompany you and dance while you sing?

Best Instructor – the most anticipated category of the entire night, watch what your instructor is really capable of!!

Miss Burlesque 2016 – the most coveted award of the year! Each instructor puts forward one dancer from across their classes who they believe encompasses the true spirit and meaning of Burlesque. All the names go into a hat and our Miss Burlesque 2015 Gillian Steers from Thorne will pick the winner and hand over her crown!

This is the perfect opportunity for all you budding Burlesque Artistes to take to the stage and show us what you are made of! Choreograph your own Burlesque Chair Dance routine, Classic Burlesque Striptease, Singing or Variety Act. Simply book a slot and take to the spotlight!

Awards & Prizes for the Best Acts, Comedian Host and drinks offers all night, and for those of you not up early the following day – Disco till midnight!!

We are very proud to announce that Burlesque Chair Dance is coming to Stevenage, Northamptonshire, more classes in Hull, Retford & Worksop, re-opening at Wath-Upon-Dearne & new Sheffield classes and Peterborough!

MINIATURE BLISS

Miniature Bliss (Jade from Nottinghamshire) is the first to fly the nest opening classes in Retford this month and Worksop shortly after. Jade lives up to her burlesque name; she is the most blissful little dancer! Jade has been dancing with us in Doncaster since she was just 15 years old, we are so proud of her and at 18 years old she is our youngest instructor.

TEMPTRESS L’ANIMAL

Temptress L’animal (Helen) is hot on her heels and opening classes on the 8th of September in Hull. Helen is both passionate, down to earth and a giggle a minute!

DIAMOND VON DARLING

Diamond Von Darling (Cathy from Northamptonshire) is venue hunting as we speak! Cathy is brave, courageous and an over all lovely lady who we feel very honoured to have as part of our team.

BELLE BONITA

Belle Bonita is getting married next month and will be opening classes in Wath & Sheffield when she returns from her honeymoon. Leanne is a ‘Miss Burlesque 2016’ Competition Winner and waltzed away with this years ‘Best Newcomer 2016’ award with an amazing performance to Selena Gomez ‘Hands to Myself’ incorporating glitter, tassels AND UV body paint!

LOLITA L’AMOUR

Lolita L’amour (Louisa from Hertfordshire) is on her way to Australia as we speak to celebrate her brothers wedding (lucky girl!) and will be opening her classes in September alongside her own highly popular Performing Arts & Dance School – now this lady is one to watch!

MISTRESS SAPPHIRE VON TAZIEFF

And finally Mistress Sapphire Von Tazieff, Kate from Peterborough is set to open classes in September. Kate is warm, funny & friendly – we are in no doubt her classes will be an absolute scream with her winning personality and bubbly charm she will have the ladies of Peterborough enthralled after one mere class! Kate has two other passions in life – her award winning pooches, and aren’t they gorgeous!

Hello my tropical honeys,

Who is ready for some summer time fun?

It’s been a fun few months for me and my ladies. Three of my ladies braved a public performance at a Summer Fair in Hamilton Square, raising money for the armed forces, showing the whole of Wirral what we’re all about.

I’m super proud of them for having the confidence to get out there and strut their stuff. It has been amazing to watch my ladies confidence build so much, along with their flexibility too, going from not being able to reach their knees, to now being able to touch the floor with their chest while stretching their legs out.

I’m also about to start some new classes in two new venues, one down near Rock Ferry Station starting this Saturday at 11am, in the North West Community Hall on Albany Road, just a bit up the road from the Old Wells Police Station and the other over in Liverpool at 7:30pm on Mondays at the U-Pole Studio in the Crown Buildings on Victoria Street, just around the corner from Queen Square.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming months and the fun ideas that are in store for me and my ladies. We’ve got a lot of fun tricks up our sleeves, so watch this space.

Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing on your seats. It doesn’t matter what you wear, just as long as you are there. So come on, every girl, grab a chair, everywhere around the UK! It’s an invitation across the nation, a chance for folks to meet. There’ll be laughing and singing, music, swinging, dancing on your seat!
